Racing Info


General:

  • Call out crashes loudly so that other drivers can hear and avoid your car. It is difficult to see overturned cars on the track. “Dead car”, “Straight”, “Sweeper”, “Left side”….all work.
  • Look for traffic before reversing or pulling onto the track.
  • Try not to step on the track; footprints/dirt can greatly affect traction
  • Do not block the view of drivers on the stand, if you need to drop your car off or pick up an overturned car, do so quickly and try not to obstruct other drivers.
  • This a family friendly environment with many children present.

Driving/practicing:

  • Work together on the track. Crashes cost both drivers time.
  • Let faster cars pass on the inside as soon as you can

Transponders:

  • We use the I-lap timing system and compatible transponders. Please bring your own personal transponder. A limited number of house transponders are available to borrow.

 

Turn Marshalling

  • All drivers must turn marshal after their qualifying/main round.
  • Look for traffic before stepping onto the track.
  • Place overturned cars back on the track clear of traffic, off the racing line.
  • Keep an eye on your section of the track.
  • Step carefully to avoid damaging the track or other cars. The track can be slippery so be careful.

Racing – Qualifying rounds:

  • The goal is to complete as many laps as you an in the given time (4 minutes).
  • You are on your own clock and not racing; let faster cars pass as soon as you can by going wide. A crash will cost both drivers time.
  • Listen to the race director or ask for instructions if you are unsure.

Racing – Mains:

  • You will sorted into “A”, “B”, “C”, heats based on your qualifying times. Check the heat sheet for your name.
  • Starting order in each main on the back straight will be based on qualifying times.
  • Work together – crashes cost all drivers valuable time.
  • Let the leaders pass if you are being lapped.
  • Listen to the race director.
  • There will usually be a bump and chance to race again in the next main: winner of the “C” main will bump to the “B” main, etc.
